The world won’t wait. Neither should you.

When the moment comes - the race, the climb, the storm, the years ahead - will you be ready?

The moment that changes everything.

Dave had always kept himself fit. He didn’t realise how important that would be until he was diagnosed with a serious condition. Being Battle Ready helped him cope better with the operation and rehab.

It’s not the strongest who thrive, it’s the ones who stay ready.

From SWAT to Battle Ready

What began as SWAT was never meant to stay still. It was the first gathering place - a forge where athletes honed Strength, Wisdom, Adaptation, and Tenacity. But as the world changed, so too did the mission. Not everyone seeks glory at the finish line; many feel a deeper calling - to live with purpose, to move freely as the years advance, to stand ready for whatever life demands. And so SWAT evolved into Battle Ready - not just training, but initiation into a tribe. The core principles remain, yet the focus is sharper: resilience, longevity, and the unbreakable bond of a community who refuse to rust. For those already inside, little feels different - for those entering now, it is clear they are stepping into something far greater than a programme. They are joining a brotherhood, a sisterhood, a society.

The biggest risk? Not being ready.

Adventure won't wait. Opportunities appear without warning.

Life throws curveballs - injuries, illness, unexpected challenges.

Time marches on - strength and mobility fade without action.

What you get with the Battle Ready Society.

FAQ’s

  • Battle Ready is more than a training plan. It’s a philosophy, a society, and a toolkit for building strength, resilience, and longevity. It’s about preparing for life’s battles, on the racecourse and beyond, so you’re always ready, never rusty.

  • Not at all. Many of our members train year-round without a race on the calendar. Battle Ready is for anyone who wants to stay strong, fit, and capable for decades to come - whether your goal is Ironman, hiking with your grandkids, or simply living with more energy.

  • Most plans just tell you what to do. Battle Ready blends structured training with daily habits (strength, mobility, sleep, nutrition, stress mastery) and the support of a tribe who share the same mission. It’s a whole way of living, not just a workout schedule.

  • Yes! Battle Ready can be your main framework or a complement to what you’re already doing. The strength, mobility, and habit work can be layered into any plan to make you more resilient.

  • It’s especially for you. Battle Ready was designed with long-term health span in mind. You’ll find strategies to stay strong, mobile, and performing at your best well into your 60’s, 70’s, and beyond.

  • The plans are built to fit around real lives - not take them over. Whether you have 5 hours a week or 15, you’ll be able to scale the training and still make progress.

  • There’s no “keeping up”. The Battle Ready philosophy is about turning up. Consistency beats perfection. Small steps, done daily, create lasting armour.

  • No. While many members are triathletes, Battle Ready is for anyone who values fitness, strength, and resilience. Runners, cyclists, swimmers, gym-goers, or those who just want to be ready for whatever life throws at them - all are welcome.

  • You’ll unlock structured training blocks, daily mobility and strength routines, tools and manuals, plus access to the Battle Ready Society - a tribe who will push you, support you, and remind you that you’re not fighting this battle alone.

  • Simon Ward has been with me as my coach since I trained for my first half-Ironman distance race in 2004. We have done many races including 2 x 70.3 World Championship Ironman. As an age group athlete with 3 children growing up through this period and a busy career for both myself and my wife, Simon has always tailored training to what I could actually do, not what the text book says I should be doing. This is precisely why I have been able to keep going at this sport and now count it as part of my lifestyle. What I particularly like is that he is well informed on all the latest research, not just for our sport, but for the wider fitness of our whole lifestyle, from diet, to sleeping patterns, to proper rest & recovery and all round injury prevention.

  • Simon is an exceptional coach, and I genuinely enjoy working with him. His vast knowledge and experience are unparalleled. What I appreciate most is his collaborative approach - he works seamlessly alongside other coaches I work with, fostering a true team dynamic. Despite his expertise, Simon is always eager to learn and grow himself, asking insightful questions that demonstrate his commitment to continuous improvement. Before choosing Simon as my coach, I spoke with several triathlon coaches, but none had the holistic understanding necessary to address critical aspects like training, strength and conditioning, mobility, nutrition, recovery, and sleep. Without prioritising these areas, progress simply isn’t possible. As someone with both ASD and dyspraxia, having the right coach is essential for me. I need structure to avoid overtraining, and Simon excels at seeing the bigger picture. He designs realistic, well-balanced training plans, holds regular catch-up calls, and takes the time to understand each athlete’s unique needs. For Ironman Barcelona 140.6, I trained less under Simon than I would have on my own but still achieved incredible results - hitting personal bests in swimming, cycling, running, and overall performance - all in a single event. Bethany has also been amazing. Despite some complex external challenges I face, both Simon and Bethany have been outstanding. I’m confident I’ll continue working with them for many years to come.

  • At the end of 2013 I had just completed my first long distance race and had spent 2 years building up through the various distances. I had got the bug but found that I was bouncing around trying to fit training in with a busy shift job and family life. I contacted Simon after previously meeting him on a training camp earlier that year. We sat down and discussed what I wanted to achieve and realistically how much training I could regularly and consistently complete. From this point I started a structured training program that has included all sessions outlined with good detail. I have a weekly call in which we discuss issues with training and move sessions around if necessary. The results from this training plan for me have been spectacular. I have moved forward in every discipline and been able to race in the Ironman World Championships in Kona in the four years I have been with Simon. This was achieved through the focus on training needs and consistency rather than masses of volume.
